Dates for harvest are coming, and there is a great question: When?

I want to talk about Bierzo, and Mencia. Take care! It is not always the same, don’t you remember  about Terroir?

But I don’t want to talk about analysis or technical data, I want to talk about feelings. And these days I am feeling the plants are suffering a lot. Why? Sometimes I believe they are feeling all the pain that people is suffering nowadays; but there are something else: Drought. Grapes are already red, but they need time to mature, but I am not sure plants will be able to “perform”.

In a view, we have an evidence: plants have enough green leaves, but branches are getting brown from their origins to their ends, and lignification is progressing to its bunches too. They are finishing their maturation.

But we need to wait some point where the grapes are absolutely balanced in order to elaborate an ageing wine. We have to look to the sky: is going to rain these days? Seeking in the Weather Forecast, it seems to be a long time without raining so… we will suffer more drought!!! We cannot wait for harvest too much!!

We go on looking to the sky, and thinking about Moon and other star influences. My opinion for ageing wine, we must avoid to harvest before September 7th, this will be the beginning. As much as we can wait, it will be better in order to finish the fermentation with crescent.

But, we will always have to pick grapes with friends and Good Mood!!
